Settings is the cog under the shop, at the top right of the screen. It has three parts: Game (sound, music, haptics, reduce motion, notifications), You (your name) and Account (play statistics, Sign in with Apple, Facebook, deleting your account). At the bottom are the game's version and buttons for Support, the privacy policy and the terms of service.
Playing as a guest
There's nothing to sign up for. The first time you open Lucky Lap you start playing straight away as a guest, and your park is kept online for this phone.
A guest park is kept for this phone, and it stays even if you delete the game and install it again. To get it back on a new phone, save it first: sign in with Apple or connect Facebook.
Lucky Lap needs an internet connection. If the connection drops, a "No connection" card says so and keeps trying; your park is safe, and a roll that was on its way goes through as soon as you're back.
Connecting Facebook
In Settings, Account, the Facebook card has a Connect Facebook button. Connecting:
- saves your park to your Facebook account, so you can get it back on another phone;
- adds your Facebook friends who play Lucky Lap as your friends.
Lucky Lap only asks Facebook for your public profile and your list of friends who also play. Once connected, the card reads "Connected to Facebook".
Disconnect removes the link. Your park stays on this phone and your friends stay your friends, but a new phone can no longer get this park back.
Sign in with Apple
In Settings, Account, the "Save your park" card has Apple's Sign in with Apple button. Signing in saves your park to your Apple ID, so you can get it back on another phone. Apple only shares a private ID with Lucky Lap: no name and no email. Once signed in, the card reads "Saved with Apple". Until your park is saved, the game asks once after you finish your third park, and once after your first purchase, whether you want to save it ("Save your park?"); Not now is fine, and it doesn't ask again.
Sign out of Apple removes the link. Your park stays on this phone, but a new phone can no longer get it back. Deleting your account signs you out of Apple too.
Switching phones
- On your old phone, sign in with Apple or connect Facebook (Settings, Account), if you haven't already.
- On the new phone, open Lucky Lap. It starts as a new guest.
- Go to Settings, Account and sign in with the same Apple ID, or connect the same Facebook account.
- The game finds your park: "You have a park already!", showing that park and the park on this phone side by side. Tap Switch and your park loads ("Welcome back!"). Keep this park stays on the new phone's park instead.
The same works after reinstalling the game. When you switch, the new guest park you started on that phone is left behind.
Notifications
After your first session, once you've rolled, a card asks "Want a nudge?". Tap Yes please and your phone then asks you to allow notifications. Tap Not now and the game asks again two parks later.
The game can send you these notifications while it's closed:
- "Your rolls are full!" when your roll bank will be full again, if that's at least 10 minutes away.
- "A new day at Lucky Lap": today's gift and today's event are ready, at 10:00 the next morning on your phone's clock.
- "Felix robbed your park!" or "Felix pranked your park!" when another player visits, at most one every half hour, and never between 22:00 and 08:00 on your phone's clock.
Opening the game clears them, and the badge on the app icon. To turn them off, use the Notifications switch in Settings. If you said no when your phone asked, the switch opens your iPhone's Settings, where you can allow them.
Sound, music, haptics and reduce motion
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Sound | Turns every sound effect in the game on or off. |
| Music | Turns the park's background tune on or off. It plays under the effects, dips while a screen is open, and stays quiet while another app (your own music or a podcast) is playing. |
| Haptics | A light tap you can feel for dice, coins and builds, on iPhone. It works even with the sound off. |
| Reduce motion | No camera shakes, flashes or firework shows, and no slow tour of the town when you leave the game alone. Until you change it, it follows your iPhone's own Reduce Motion setting. |
| Notifications | When your rolls are full, and when a new day's gifts are ready (see above). |
These settings are kept on your phone.
Your name
Under You, type a new name and tap Save. Other players see it in their news and in the tournament. A name is 3 to 16 characters: letters, numbers and spaces. Rude names aren't accepted, however they're spelled ("That name isn't allowed. Please pick another."), and neither are names that would pass for the game's team, such as "Admin". You can also change it on the Friends tab. Players under 13 keep their made-up name: a name you type could tell other players who you are.
Blocked players
Players you've blocked are listed under Blocked players, with when you blocked them. Tap Unblock to let them visit your park again and to be able to add each other as friends. You block a player from their card (the three dots on them). See Reporting and blocking a player.
Sharing play statistics
The first time you open Lucky Lap, a welcome card asks how old you are and asks you to agree to the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. When you agree, the game sends play statistics: what happens in the game, such as rolls, builds and pranks, under a random ID, never your name or contact details, to help make the game better. In the European Union, the UK and Switzerland a second card asks "Share play statistics?" first, and nothing is sent unless you tap Share. If you're under 13, the game sends no play statistics, and Facebook sign-in and Club offers are left out.
You can change your mind any time with the Share play statistics switch in Settings. If you turn sharing back on, it may only start again the next time you open the game. Deleting your account (below) also asks the question again at the next launch.
Deleting your account
In Settings, Account, tap Delete account, then Delete to confirm (or "Keep playing" to back out). This:
- deletes your park, coins, rolls, stickers, friends and progress for good, along with your friend code, the news of visits to your park and any link to Facebook;
- asks for this phone's play statistics to be erased too. Settings shows where that request stands ("Statistics deletion requested", with a reference).
It can't be undone, and no purchase can be restored to a deleted account. The game then starts fresh as a new guest, with Pippa's tour from the beginning.
